Mary Peters Track Celebrates 50 Years with Special Anniversary Meet This Saturday

The spotlight will fall on Belfast’s historic Mary Peters Track this Saturday as athletes from across the UK and Ireland gather for the BMC Record Breaker and Mary Peters 50th Anniversary Meet.
The event marks 50 years since the iconic track first opened on Easter Monday in 1976, becoming one of Northern Ireland’s most important venues for athletics and producing generations of outstanding performances.
Saturday’s programme promises an exciting evening of competition, headlined by the British Milers’ Club events featuring elite Men’s and Women’s 800m, Mile and 3000m races, where fast times and fierce racing are expected.
Alongside the BMC programme, the Lagan Valley events will showcase athletes of all ages across a packed schedule including 100m races, 400m events, jumps and throws.
With a blend of elite middle-distance racing, grassroots participation and a celebration of five decades of athletics history, the anniversary meet is set to be a memorable occasion at one of Northern Ireland’s most cherished sporting venues.
