NI & Ulster Athletes Excel at the Irish National & Even Cross Country Championships 2023

Excellent performances from our NI & Ulster athletes are the Irish National & Even Cross Country Championships in Gowran Demesne, Kilkenny on Sunday 19th November 2023.
Super results from U23 athletes Callum Morgan (CNDR Track Club) and Matthew Lavery (North Belfast Harrier) who finished 2nd and 3rd.
Nick Griggs (CNDR Track Club) started the U20 Men’s race, unfortunately he fell while leading 500m to go and was unable to finish.
Caolan McFadden (Cranford AC) claiming gold and Finn Diver (Beechmount Harriers AC) bronze in the U18 Men’s race.
NI & Ulster athletes Anna Gardiner (East Down AC) and Amy Greene (Finn Valley AC) took 1st and 2nd in the U20 Women after being together the whole race until the home straight where Gardiner broke away from Greene in an exciting finish.
With Lucy Foster (Willowfield Harriers) getting silver and Annabel Morrison (Enniskillen RC) in the combined U20 and U18 Women’s race.
The U16 Boys race saw Odhran McBrearty (Finn Valley AC) take silver.
Emer McKee took the U16 Girls title with a 20 second gap over second place with Clara Casey (Foyle Valley AC) taking bronze.
Madison Welby (City of Lisburn AC) took silver in the U14 Girls race.
Lagan Valley AC got took the U20 Men’s team title with a successful day from the junior teams from the club. North Belfast Harriers senior men’s team narrowly missed out on gold by Kilkenny City Harriers, with both teams claiming 72 point but North Belfast Harriers claiming second on count back. Both clubs have secured qualification to head to Algarve, Portugal for the European Champion Club Cross Country in February 2024.
