NI & Ulster Athletes Soar to Success in Wales and England

The Welsh U20 International took place in Cardiff last weekend, with 10 athletes selected to represent NI & Ulster in one of the final international fixtures of the season.

This was one of the team’s best performances at the International with a total of six medals won. Stand out performances and Gold medals came from Adrienne Gallen in the Hammer  with a throw of 52.69m, Anna Gardiner with a strong front running performance in the 3000m  finishing in 9:46.32 and Fintan Dewhurst who obliterated the meeting record in the 400m hurdles in a time of 52.16.

Adding to the medal tally, Hannah Murray won Silver in the 400m in a time of 56.98, with Joseph Gillespie claiming silver in the Triple Jump, jumping 14.36m and Zane McQuillan who won bronze in the 110m Hurdles in a time of 15.96 (w/s -2.5)

The impressive medal tally of the 10 athletes meant that NI & Ulster finished well in the overall tables, ahead of two teams despite being the smallest team by some margin.
