NI & Ulster Championship Cross Country Set for Billy Neill MBE Country Park
23 September 2021
Athletics NI will host the NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships and Bobby Rea Cross Country on Sunday 24th October at the Billy Neill MBE Country Park.
The historic Bobby Rea Cross Country will once again be complimented by the NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships, as they return to the cross country fixtures.
The Bobby Rea Memorial Cross Country is held annually in memory of the former Chairman of the Northern Ireland Athletic Federation, coach and founding member of Abbey AC, who passed away in November of 2006. The race is one of the fixtures that are part of the Athletics NI Cross Country League.
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is supporting the Bobby Rea Cross Country and the NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships. Speaking about the partnership Councillor Sharon Skillen, Leisure & Community Development Chair said: “The council is delighted to once again work with Athletics NI and host its cross country fixtures at our country park. We look forward to welcoming regional, national and international athletes of all ages to Billy Neill MBE Country Park.
“The cross country course is just one of the features at this facility which we have enhanced in recent times. We hope the athletes and their supporters enjoy their visit. I wish all the competitors well as they complete their training programme and we look forward to seeing you soon.”
The day’s event will begin with the NI & Ulster Even Age Group Championships at 11am, with the Bobby Rea Cross Country events starting with the Women’s and Male 60+ at 2:30pm and the Men’s race at 3:20pm.
