NI Athletes Confirmed for the European Athletics Championships

There are 5 NI & Ulster who have been selected to represent Ireland at the European Athletics Championships in Rome from 7th – 12th June.
Double 1500m European medallist Ciara Mageean (City of Lisburn AC) is in for the 1500m after a spectacular opening to her season with an Irish and Northern Irish record in the 800m and a strong 1500m win only a few days apart.
While, Nick Griggs (CNDR Track Club) is in for the 1500m having recently secured the qualifying standard a few weeks ago in Poland.
Ireland has a very strong Men’s, Women’s and Mixed 4x400m relay teams, including Callum Baird (Ballymena & Antrim AC) in the Men’s 4x400m relay team and reserve for a promising Mixed 4x400m relay team. And Emily Haggard Kearney (North Belfast Harriers) is in for the Half Marathon.
Zak Hanna will be hoping for a top 10 finish at the European Athletics Off-Road running championships in Annecy, France. Zak goes in the gruelling uphill event on Friday 31st May.
