24 February 2026

James Gormley’s remarkable rise in form shows no sign of slowing down, as the Carmen Runners athlete delivered another standout performance on the international stage. Building on a string of strong results, he produced a milestone run in Boston that further underlines his growing reputation and championship credentials.
James Gormley (Carmen Runners) has continued his recent run of success by running a very impressive mile in Boston last night. Running in the Saucony Battle in Boston James finished third in the mile in 3.53.38 which is a new Northern Ireland indoor record and inside the Commonwealth Games consideration standard of 3.53.5. His official 1500m split of 3.37.60 is also a B standard for qualification for the World Indoor Championships. Like Nick Griggs (CNDR) he now has the consideration standard for the mile and the 5000m, there are currently five NI athletes who have achieved the Consideration standard so far this year.
