NI Indoor Record for Roy in Texas Weekend Roundup 17th & 18th Jan
19 January 2026

Lauren Roy (NI Coach Adam McMullen / City of Lisburn), opened her 2026 season in dramatic style by improving her 60m PB significantly from 7.39 first, to 7.31 in the heats of the Corky Classic in Texas and then to a Northern Irish record of 7.25 in the semifinals, posting the 3rd fastest time.
Lauren withdrew from the final to run for her team (Tarleton State) in the 4x400m which they won.
This performance takes 0.02 off Amy Fosters record from 2018, goes 3rd fastest on the Irish all-time list, and counts as a World Indoor B standard for Lauren.
Anna McCauley (Adam McMullen / City of Lisburn) continued her excellent form this year back at Sheffield EIS, where she defended her England Combined Events Senior title with a 117 point PB in the Pentathlon. The Commonwealth Games 2022 representative, started the day with her second fastest ever 60m Hurdles of 8.59 before winning the High Jump by clearing 1.75m. She lost some ground in the Shot, with 11.26m but came back strongly with yet another Long Jump PB of 5.99m before sealing the title with an 800m performance of 2:16.51 and an impressive score of 4250, 101 points ahead of French athlete, Ysee Le Phillippe.
In the early season, Anna’s score ranks 2nd in the World, but by the end of the indoor season, this score is likely to keep her inside the World top 50 rankings which is an impressive feat.
The Athletics NI Jumps and Throws meeting on Saturday featured a range of athletes all performing well in their field events. Highlights included international Para athletes Freddie Wallace (Michelle Rea / City of Lisburn AC) and Eve Walsh Dann (Roger Sexton & Lyn Fisher / North Down AC) setting F12 and F38 Long Jump PBs of 5.68m and 3.83m respectively.
At the AAI Games in Dublin the standout performance was World Championship 400m Relay athlete Rachel McCann (Ian Neely / North Down AC) setting a PB in the 200m of 23.97 to post the fastest time of the day.
