Less than two weeks after the Super Sunday in Apeldoorn where Combined Events star Kate O’Connor took European Indoor Bronze in the Pentathlon, the Northern Irish and Irish record holder is back and ready to go in another major championships.
The World Indoor Championships start list boasts a strong field including two strong Americans as well as Saga Vanninen, the World leader and European Indoor champion. However, sitting at number 3 in the 2025 rankings, Kate will know she has another shot at the podium if she can once again be close to her best.
With little time to celebrate the success in Apeldoorn the Dundalk St. Gerards athlete spent a few days recovering at home and checking in with Sport NI Sports Institute S&C and Physio staff before jetting off to Nanjing, China with father and lead coach Michael last week to ensure the travel fatigue and jet lag from the 8 hour time difference was well out of her system before tomorrow’s (starting in the early hours of tonight) Pentathlon.
