Ryan Forsyth Leads Irish Team Home at Euro XC Champs

Northern Irish athletes competed as part of the Irish Team at the European Cross Country Championships in Tilburg, on Sunday 9th December 2018.

Ryan Forsyth (Newcastle & District AC) led a strong Irish team finishing fourth in the U23 age category in a time of 23:48.68, and aiding his team to 6th place overall. City of Derry Spartan AC’s Fintan Stewart finished in a time of 19:49.94 in the U20 category, aiding the Irish U20 Team to a 5th place finish overall and the Senior Men’s team took 7th place in a highly competitive event.

The Senior Women’s Irish team came 11th overall, with Ciara Mageean (UCD) finishing in a time of 28:07.69; Ann-Maire McGlynn (Letterkenny AC) in a time of 288:39.62; Fionnuala Ross (Armagh AC) in a time of 28:47.21 and Kerry O’Flaherty (Newcastle & District AC) in a time of 28:59.23.

The U20 Women’s team took 6th place, with the U23 Team taking 9th, with Eilish Flanagan (Carmen Runners) finishing 16th in a time of 21:17 and her twin sister, Roisin Flanagan (Carmen Runners) finishing in 41st place in a time of 22:04.
