Stephen Wylie and Gemma McDonald Win at the Les Jones Memorial 10k

Stephen Wylie (Victoria Park & Connswater) and Gemma McDonald (Ballycastle Runners) took advantage of the summer sun and clear skies on Friday 17th May 2019 to take the top spots at the Les Jones Memorial 10k.

This was the 28th year of the annual event which commemorates the athlete, team manager and Athletics NI Chairman, Les Jones, who passed away in 1992.

For the event, Athletics NI worked alongside Action Mental Health as part of the Mental Health Awareness week, which began on 13th May 2019. A percentage from the online entries will be given to the charity plus any other donations made by participants.

The race started at the Mary Peters Track and took competitors onto the Lagan Towpath towards Shaw’s Bridge, then onto the infamous climb in Barnett’s Demesne on their way back to the finish line at the Mary Peters Track.
