Taking on the Cultra Charity Challenge for Childrens Heartbeat Trust

The Cultra Charity Challenge is being hosted by National Museums NI, who are a charity partner of Children’s Heartbeat Trust, and is organised by award winning event organisers Born2Run. The race will pass by picturesque cottages and farms, as it winds through the uniquely beautiful settings of the parkland covering Cultra. The 10k track will be a challenge for the more experienced runners, while the 5k track, which takes in the same beautiful scenery, is targeted at younger athletes.

Speaking ahead of the race Children’s Heartbeat Trust Fundraising Officer, Gareth McGreevy,  said, “We are delighted that the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum are hosting such a fantastic event in such a beautiful setting. This is yet another excellent event in the National Museums Northern Ireland charity partnership with the Children’s Heartbeat Trust. 

“The fun run is a chance for runners of all abilities to take on the challenge for a good cause. With 900 runners expected, including many young people, this is going to be a really competitive race. All money raised from the day will help support families and children with CHD and will help the Children’s Heartbeat Trust in our work.”

We are working in partnership with the charity to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity, and this is just one of the many initiatives we will be ‘running’ over the next two years

The Children’s Heartbeat Trust provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people living with heart disease and their families. Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect for children born in Northern Ireland, with around 200 born each year. Many of these children affected will have to go through complex and invasive surgery, often at just a few hours or days old.
