Top 10 for OConnor at European Indoors

Commonwealth Games medallist, Kate O’Connor was representing Ireland at the weekend in the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
Kate had a strong start the Pentathlon, running 8.64 sec in the 60m Hurdles which put her 5th early doors. Next was the High Jump where she jumped 1.74m, finishing 8th. Following onto the Shot Put where she threw 14.37m, placing 4th. This set her up for the Long Jump where she jumped 5.91m in 8th. The final event of the Pentathlon was the 800m where she ran 2:20:08, placing her 9th. Kate finished the European Indoor Pentathlon Championships in 9th.
Irish Universities Cross Country Championships
Over in Limerick, NI & Ulster athletes were competing at the Irish University Cross Country Championships. In the Women’s race, Róise Roberts (North Belfast Harriers) who presented DCU finished in 2nd, while Queen’s University student, Hannah Gilliland (Annadale Striders) was just behind her in 3rd.
Longhorn Invitational
Elsewhere this weekend, Lauren Roy (City of Lisburn AC) was competing for University of Texas at San Antonio at the Longhorn Invitational Meet in her first race of the outdoor season. In the 100m she ran 11.61 sec in 5th place and in the 200m she ran 23.66 sec in 4th, smashing her PB and 0.14 sec off the NI Record!
