Athletics Northern Ireland has been invited to enter a team into this event to compete against the counties and districts of England, Scotland and Wales. Athletics NI will have athletes competing in the Senior Men’s, Senior Women’s, U20 Men’s, U20 Women’s as well as the U17 men’s and U15 girl’s categories.

Unfortunately, this event clashes with the All Ireland Schools Cross Country and some of our selected athletes have chosen to compete for their schools instead. Additionally, several contenders for the senior teams indicated that their cross-country season would not extend into March this year, and so we have not fielded full teams in the senior categories either.

Jackie Newton, Director of Coaching and Athlete Development said, “We are pleased to be sending some of our best cross-country runners to this event as it gives them the opportunity to test themselves against the best in the UK. The fields will be competitive as each county and region in the UK selects their top runners. The overall team is made up of athletes who are demonstrating good progression and will hold their own in this competition. It will give them the opportunity to finish their cross-country season on a high note.”
