Championship Record for Stewart at National Juvenile T&F Day 3 & 4

The middle-distance events produced some excellent results, with Emma Stewart (Dromore AC) setting a new championship record in the U18 girls' 1500m. Her winning time of 4:30.62 erased the previous record, which had stood since 2007.

Harry McVeigh (Newcastle AC) claimed silver in the U14 boys' 1500m, clocking a personal best of 4:26.05, while his brother Connaire McVeigh also secured silver in the U15 boys' 800m with 2:15.34.

Fresh from finishing second in the Morton Games U20 women's mile on Friday evening, Clara Casey (Foyle Valley AC) returned to championship action on Saturday to win the U19 girls' 1500m in 4:37.76.

Sprint and Hurdles Success

Ewan Donald (Orangegrove AC) enjoyed a comfortable victory in the U18 boys' 200m, winning in 22.32.

The U19 boys' 200m saw Jack O'Connor (Enniskillen RC) take silver in 22.56, with Harrison Jamison (North Down AC) close behind for bronze in 22.75. Anna Hogg (Fast Twitch Athletics) also claimed silver in the U19 girls' 200m, recording 25.94.

Over the hurdles, Ronan Scullion (Newry AC) won the U17 boys' 300m hurdles in 39.13, while Poppy Earl (North Down AC) finished second in the U15 girls' 250m hurdles with 37.31.

Field Event Highlights

The field events delivered an impressive medal haul, with Joseph Ike (Lifford Strabane AC) among the busiest competitors of the weekend. He collected three medals, finishing:

• 2nd in the U17 boys' high jump with a PB of 1.86m
• 2nd in the triple jump with 12.34m
• 3rd in the shot put with 13.54m

His clubmate Cabrini Pye won the U17 girls' javelin with 38.65m and narrowly missed a long jump medal after a countback following a best leap of 5.11m.

Also representing Lifford Strabane, Cole Spencer earned bronze in the U18 boys' shot put with 14.48m.

Lagan Valley AC enjoyed further success through:

• Isabella O'Dowd, second in the U17 girls' high jump with 1.68m
• Jude Glover, third in the U18 boys' high jump with 1.90m
• Curtis Ford, who added another Irish title to his collection by winning the U18 boys' javelin with an outstanding 60.11m

Roger McMullan (North Down AC) continued his excellent season, taking silver in the U19 boys' long jump with 6.57m.

Strong Performances at Cork City Sports

Several senior athletes were also in action at Cork City Sports during the week.

Zoe Toland (CNDR) produced one of the performances of the meeting, smashing her previous best by almost ten seconds to break the nine-minute barrier for the first time, clocking 8:57.18 in the 3000m.

Clubmate Luke Kelly (CNDR) continued his fine season with a personal best of 8:03.95 in the men's 3000m.

Andrew Thompson (North Belfast Harriers) placed fifth in the men's 800m in 1:48.94, while Rachel McCann finished joint third in the women's 200m with 23.96.

Morton Games Produce More PBs

At Friday night's Morton Games in Dublin, Rachel McCann returned to race over 400m, finishing sixth in 54.14, with Jenna Breen (City of Lisburn AC) seventh in 54.35.

The men's 5000m featured a world-class field, with Nick Griggs (CNDR) finishing third in 13:16.19 and clubmate Callum Morgan ninth in 13:30.58.

James Gormley (Carmen Runners) placed 11th in the men's mile in 3:55.77.

In the junior men's mile, Tom Fleming (CNDR) claimed second place with a personal best of 4:15.82, while his 1500m split of 3:59.71 was also a PB.

Clara Casey (Foyle Valley AC) rounded off another excellent weekend by finishing second in the U20 women's mile in a personal best of 4:56.96.

Another PB for Toland at Watford

The performances continued on Saturday at the Watford BMC Grand Prix, where Zoe Toland recorded yet another personal best, finishing third in the Women's A 1500m in 4:12.43.

Niamh Carr (DCH) followed closely in fourth with a PB of 4:12.76, while Kirsti Foster (CNDR) was runner-up in the Women's B 1500m in 4:21.52.
