On Sunday at the Billy Neill Centre the very popular Comber Cup Cross-Country fixture promoted by Ballydrain Harriers was held.
Perfect conditions greeted the large fields which were further increased in size due to the addition of the NI Masters XC trials which were cancelled from last weekend.
The senior men’s race was won by the in-form Craig McMeechan (North Down), Cameron Stewart (Annadale) was second with Stephen Lyster (Lagan Valley) a very close third.
Annadale’s Hannah Gilliland produced a dominant performance in the women’s race, winning by forty-five seconds from teammate Holly Taggart who just held off Emily Morris (Willowfield) for second place.
Annadale took both men’s and women’s team titles.
In the master’s trial there was victories for Jonathan Scott (Mourne Runners) in the men’s race and Sarah McNutt (NBH) in the women’s race.
The younger age group races were also well supported. There were wins for Daly Seaton (North Down) and Lily Henderson (COLAC) in the boys and girls primary school races. In the U14 races Anna Kelly (COLAC) and Carter Rolston (North Down) were impressive winners. The U16 races saw wins for Madison Welby (COLAC) and Charlie Taggart (Keep er Lit) then the U18 races were won by Freya Woodhead (Lagan Valley) and Alex Downey (Lagan Valley)
