Most of our home-based athletes had a break from racing over the weekend, however there was some action in the US and England.
The NCAA Regional Championships were held in various locations throughout the US and saw some great performances from Anna Gardiner (East Down), Cara Laverty (Finn Valley) and Matthew Neill (Strive) who all qualified for the prestigious NCAA National XC Championships which will be held in Missouri on Saturday.
The British and Irish XC Championships were held in Leeds on Saturday and despite Storm Claudia causing major travel disruptions our local athletes still produced some good performances. Matt Shields (NBH) took the individual honours in the M70 Category just ahead of teammate Gerry O’Doherty (City of Derry) they also led their team to victory in their category. There were also podium finishes for the M65 team (3rd) and the W55 team (3rd).
