WEEKEND ROUNDUP 6TH-7TH JUNE 2026

Rachel McCann (North Down AC) continued her run of consistent performances at the Memorial Leon Buyle meeting in Belgium, finishing fifth in the women’s 400m in 53.40.

Over in the US Roisin and Eilish Flanagan (Finn Valley AC) had a busy few days. Roisin competed in the Hoka Festival of miles on Thursday night finishing 9^th in 4.39.51, then on Sunday at the Adrian Martinez Classic she finished fifth in the women’s 1500m in a time of 4.21.16. In Washington Eilish finished third in a time of 4.32.12 in the Yakima Mile, which is a road mile with a net downhill course so cannot count as an official time.

Closer to home in Irishtown Dublin the IMC held their annual track meeting, fortunately mixed weather conditions did not detract from some good performances. Kirsti Foster (CNDR) followed up her pb in Birmingham over 5000m last weekend with a pb and a win over 1500m on Saturday. Her time of 4.22.11 was over a second clear of Irish International Danielle Donegan who finished second.

We had some local interest in the European Off-Road Championships which were held in Slovenia over the weekend. Zak Hanna (Newcastle AC) was forty sixth and Aaron McGrady (East Down AC) fifty eighth in the Senior men’s uphill race. In the U20 women’s uphill race Katie Graham (Annadale Striders) finished an impressive eighteenth place she also finished 29^th in the up&downhill race.  In the senior men’s up&downhill race Jared Martin (Ballydrain Harriers) finished in forty seventh place.
