World Half Marathon Selections
26 February 2020
Congratulations to the two Northern Irish athletes who have been selected as part of the Irish team for the World Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia, Poland on 29th March 2020.
Annadale Striders’ Paul Pollock and Clonliffe Harriers’ Emma Mitchell have both been selected along with four others to represent Ireland, with Emma being the only female athlete named on the team.
Paul has previously represented Ireland at the World Half Marathon in 2014, where he set a NI record of 62 minutes and 9 seconds. He recently set the Marathon record in Valencia at a time of 2:10.25, only to have it beaten by Kevin Seaward in Seville with a time of 2:10.09.
Emma will no doubt still be celebrating from her recent success in becoming the 2020 NI & Ulster Senior XC Champion in Coleraine last weekend. She has been selected to the Irish Half Marathon team based on her team of 72:28 at the Valencia Half Marathon.
