Athletics NI Partners with TAMHI to Champion Mental Wellbeing in Sport
13 June 2025

Athletics Northern Ireland is proud to announce a new partnership with TAMHI (Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues), a Belfast-based charity that works with sports clubs, schools, and youth groups to promote mental health awareness through sport.
As part of this collaboration, Joe Donnelly from TAMHI recently delivered a tutor training workshop to Athletics NI staff, introducing a bespoke, games-based learning approach tailored specifically for athletics. We are pleased to share that the "Hurdles of Life" programme, access to the Text a Teammate support service, and a customised club mental health toolkit are now available to our athletics community.

This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting the mental wellbeing of athletes, coaches, and clubs across Northern Ireland. In the coming months, Athletics NI will begin rolling out coaching workshops based on this programme.

Together, we aim to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and foster a stronger, healthier sporting environment for all.
