Licensing & Renewal

Your licence is what keeps you insured and able to officiate

A few minutes a year is all it takes to keep it current. Here's what's needed, and how to do it.

To stay licensed and insured, you need to:

  • Keep your Access NI check up to date.
  • Renew your Safeguarding module every three years, via Athletics Hub.
  • Keep your myAthletics Portal profile — including your licence photo — current.

How renewal works

  1. Log in to the myAthletics Portal to check and update your personal details and licence photo.
  2. Log in to Athletics Hub separately to renew your Safeguarding module if it's due (every three years) and to complete any Health & Safety module still outstanding.
  3. Confirm your Coach and/or Official status and complete anything flagged as outstanding across both systems.
  4. That's it — you're renewed for another year.

Applying for your Access NI check

Apply through the Athletics NI website, then complete the ID Validation form. This needs to be signed by a club committee member or work colleague — not a family member — and returned to the licensing team. Your Enhanced check can't be processed until this signed form is received, so it's worth getting it witnessed and sent off early rather than leaving it until closer to a course or meeting.
