This free workshop is designed for qualified athletics coaches who want to make their sessions more inclusive and accessible for disabled athletes. Whether you are new to inclusive coaching or looking to build on your existing knowledge, this session will provide practical advice and ideas that can be applied within your own club or training group.
The workshop will explore how to adapt sessions, communicate effectively, remove barriers to participation and create a positive environment where all athletes feel welcome and supported. Coaches will leave with greater confidence and a better understanding of how to ensure athletics is accessible to everyone.
The workshop is free to attend and is suitable for all Athletics NI qualitfied coaches working across all ages and disciplines.

Athletics NI / Go Run NI are hosting a FREE Visually Impaired Endurance Guide Running Workshop on Saturday 27th June 2026 at 11am in Limavady Health Centre.
Led by Tony Barclay MBE (visually impaired endurance runner, disability sports advocate and community volunteer) this practical workshop will help athletes, coaches and volunteers learn how to safely and confidently guide visually impaired runners.
Where: Limavady Health Centre, Scroggy Road, BT49 0NA
When: Saturday 27th June 2026 | 11am | Approx. 90 mins – 2 hrs
👥 Limited to 20 spaces
In order to attend you must:
✅ Be able to run 5k
✅ Hold a current Access NI
Participants are welcome to complete parkrun beforehand as the workshop will use the same route.

UKA has revised its policy on First Aid provision for Coaches and Leaders so that it is aligned with the HSE requirements under Civil Law and Duty of Care. We are aware that a number of Coaches have already undertaken first aid training as good practice which is great but given recent incidents there will now be a requirement for all UKA Licensed Coaches and Leaders to have a suitable level First Aid Training certificate, renewable every three years in line with the re-licensing process.
