Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026

The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from Thursday 23 July to Sunday 2 August 2026, returning to the city 12 years after the hugely successful 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Track and field athletics and Para athletics will be staged at Scotstoun.

Qualification Period: To be considered as part of the nomination process, athletes must achieve one standard within the qualification period: 1 April 2025 and 14 June 2026.

The consideration and prioritisation of athletes will be decided at a single nomination meeting. This meeting will be held on Monday 15 June 2026.

The Athletics NI consideration standards can be seen in the policy in section 2.16, Table 1.

To note Para-Sport athletes will receive an invitation to compete from Commonwealth Sport, based on a quota system adopted by Commonwealth Sport in line with WPA Commonwealth rankings. Para events do not count towards the maximum team size allocated to Athletics NI by the CGNI.
