I head up the Business & Operations side of Athletics NI, including oversight of all events. I am responsible for the governance of the organisation, and work with the Management Board to ensure we operate in a legal and compliant way. I work alongside the Director of Coaching & Athlete Development to deliver desired results consistent with our overall strategy and mission. My role also includes all the finance operations and human resource management. In addition I am responsible for the overall management of the Mary Peters Track. I represent Athletics NI on a number of UK Athletics committees.

I am responsible for the planning, preparation and organisation of the Athletics NI events including cross country, road running and track & field. My role also includes looking after all the Commercial elements within the organisation, which entails seeking ways to increase and maximise our yearly income. I do this by applying for grant applications, gaining new sponsors and partners and being the main contact throughout the contract. I also play a role in the administration of the organisation which I manage the ordering of stock, NI & Ulster kit and medals.

I lead on the day-to-day marketing and communications activities including website management; managing all social media channels; event promotion; promotion of coach and official education programmes; and promotion of the Mary Peters Track. My role also includes managing the organisation of certain events (Les Jones 10k, Team Trophy and Athletics NI Open Meets). I am also the Equality Officer working to ensure that Athletics NI supports an inclusive and diverse community which is open to all, and liaising with UK Athletics and the Home Country Federations. I also cover the Admin & Events Assistant role.

As Officials Coordinator my role is to recruit, train and deploy officials and volunteers across all aspects of athletics. In conjunction with the Technical Officials Sub Committee, I arrange for the appointment of officials at ANI permitted events and ensure that there is adequate and ongoing communication with officials. My role also includes supporting local officials as they progress through the Official’s Education Pathway and to co-ordinate the nomination process of NI Officials to UKA selection meetings.

As the Development Manage, I provide leadership and influence in the areas of club, coach, officials and volunteer development and advocate for the quality of athletics experience for all participants through an Athlete-First, System-Led and Performance-Driven philosophy. I work with clubs to assist them to improve the quality of athletics provision and to provide support, as well as delivering learning and development programmes for the athletics workforce.

In my role as Pathways Coach and Administrator I co-ordinate and deliver support to athletes and coaches in Athletics NI Pathway programs. This includes delivery of weekly physical and technical preparation sessions for athletes; regular athlete, coach and parent education sessions and athlete profiling and monitoring where I take lead responsibility for capturing and analysing strength and speed data and providing feedback to athletes and coaches. I lead on all Academy communications to athletes, coaches and parents.

Para Development Officer:

Athletics Development Officer:

As Para Development Officer I plan, lead and drive a talent search initiative/ taster sessions through key partners including Athletics Clubs, schools, Disability Sport NI and Special Olympics. I recruit suitable coaches for the programmes and provide necessary and appropriate CPD opportunities as well as organising for some of the top British Athletics Para coaches to take coaching workshops in NI. I also deliver the Buggy Club NI initiative, to support females to take part in sport at all levels and to help them after they have had a baby to get physically strong and helping support their mental health. Buggy Club NI is also open to men and it has also helped them with their physical and mental health.

I promote Athletics to students at Ulster University, increasing participation levels and performance of individuals and teams. I coordinate the support services offered by UU Performance Sport for the benefit of athletes and I help coordinate and promote Athletics Northern Ireland’s development initiatives in order to identify and develop talented athletes from across Northern Ireland. I deliver athletics development initiatives at Ulster University campuses including Youth Academy in both Jordanstown and Coleraine, as well as leading the Rising Stars Development Squad in Jordanstown. I also identify local talent through the Sports Hall Athletics training and competition and deliver coach education through Ulster University’s School of Sport.

I am passionate about developing clubs, coaches and their runners at all levels and abilities to achieve their targets. I support running clubs and coaches through Athletics NI coaching programmes and Run NI, developing resources that build coaching expertise to help improve the experience and performances of runners.

Athletics Development Assistant:

As Athletics Development Assistant I am predominantly responsible for overseeing and completing administrative tasks within the Coaching department. I work closely with the Director of Coaching and Athlete Development in both the Sporting Winners and Sporting Clubs initiatives.

I am also responsible for processing Access NI applications and issuing Athletics NI Coach and Official licences.
