Athletics NI is delighted to offer club development & management workshops (online & face-to-face) to support clubs across Northern Ireland in their development across the areas of business planning, volunteer recruitment & retention, membership experience & culture development. Further details on individual workshops are below:

Belfast City Council will be holding a drop in evening on their current grants that are available to Athletics NI registered clubs and Run NI groups. The drop-in evening will be taking place on Monday 20th November in the Les Jones Room, Athletics House from 5pm-9pm. Clubs and groups are asked to book in for a 30 minute slot to discuss what funding your club requires and understand how to apply for these ahead of the January deadline. Current grants include:
These 30 minute information session will give clubs additional information on the grants available, how to achieve support for your projects, the application process and an opportunity to ask questions at the end. These grants are available for clubs and groups operating in the Belfast City Council area only. Please note that clubs or groups must be training from a Belfast City Council area address however, for individual grants, the individual can be residing in the Belfast area.
Please note that 30 minute slots are available per club/group and will be booked on a first come, first served basis.
Volunteer Now has received funding from Belfast City Council’s Capacity Building Programme to support voluntary and community organisations and groups operating in the Belfast area. Details of upcoming courses are included below.
This session will outline the features and benefits of using the 'Be Collective' platform. The online platform is free and available to all volunteering involving organisations. We will show you how to create an organisational profile on the system and utilise this to recruit volunteers for specific events and roles. The session will take you through the process of advertising your volunteer roles within Be Collective and how to manage an enquiry right through to appointing a volunteer.

This session will inform staff and volunteers about the legal and policy context of safeguarding, categories of abuse and possible indicators, how to deal with a disclosure of abuse, procedures for reporting concerns and a code of behaviour when working with children and/or adults.

Content: This module highlights trends in sports club membership, how a club might develop membership ‘insight’, & considers how behavior change concepts & practical steps may help to attract new members to your club, & retain existing club members for longer.
Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. Pre & post learning tasks are included for the purposes or introduction & reflection.
Content: This module supports clubs & coach/volunteer coordinators to consider how coaches & volunteers can be effectively recruited, supported, developed, & retained, as well as highlighting key considerations for coach/volunteer wellbeing.
Format: This module is a single 2-2.5 hour workshop which can be delivered via Zoom or face-to- face. Introductory & reflective tasks are included as part of the module.
Content: This module highlights the importance of club planning & provides information on the simple steps that a club can take to create their own development plan, including creating a vision, objectives & actions, as well as who to involve.
Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. A pre learning task is included as well as digital workshop resources.
Content: This module considers the impact of ‘culture’ in your club or team environment. Content will focus on how you might identify the key elements of existing culture, steps that can assist to evolve club or team culture, & important considerations when leading change.
Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. Pre & post learning tasks are included for the purposes or introduction & reflection.
