Athletics NI is delighted to offer a set of four club development & management workshops (online & face-to-face) to support clubs across Northern Ireland in their development across the areas of business planning, volunteer recruitment & retention, membership experience & culture development. Further details on individual workshops are below:

Sported & Athletics NI | NI Funding Landscape: Club Webinar

Monday 24th October from 7pm - 8.30pm

This webinar delivered in conjunction with Sported will give the Athletics NI community an introduction to the funding landscape within NI including top tips when completing funding applications, current funding available, ongoing support and an introduction to Sported.

Safeguarding Children & Young People Workshop

Ran in conjunction with Sport NI

Monday November 7th 2022: 7pm-9:30pm

The Safeguarding Children and Young People workshop is 3 hours in duration.

The online workshop incorporates a pre-learning element that is mandatory for participants to undertake in advance of the actual workshop.

It comprises of a 30 minute video which forms the basis on the workshop and therefore must be observed in advance. Participants are also encouraged to review the workshop resource and some supporting material in advance also.

Tutors will test individuals understanding of the pre-learning element in the actual workshop.

The actual workshop, whether face-to-face or online/virtual, will be approximately 2.5 hours in duration.

All elements must be completed in order to receive certification.

This workshop is recommended for all coaches & club officers working within Northern Ireland. Please note, that for Coach licensing, all coaches & leaders must complete the UK Athletics Online Safeguarding Module separately.

How to Attract & Retain Club Members

Content: This module highlights trends in sports club membership, how a club might develop membership ‘insight’, & considers how behavior change concepts & practical steps may help to attract new members to your club, & retain existing club members for longer.

Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. Pre & post learning tasks are included for the purposes or introduction & reflection.

Supporting your Club Workforce

Content: This module supports clubs & coach/volunteer coordinators to consider how coaches & volunteers can be effectively recruited, supported, developed, & retained, as well as highlighting key considerations for coach/volunteer wellbeing.

Format: This module is a single 2-2.5 hour workshop which can be delivered via Zoom or face-to- face. Introductory & reflective tasks are included as part of the module.

Simple Steps to Create a Club Development Plan

Content: This module highlights the importance of club planning & provides information on the simple steps that a club can take to create their own development plan, including creating a vision, objectives & actions, as well as who to involve.

Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. A pre learning task is included as well as digital workshop resources.

Developing Club Culture

Content: This module considers the impact of ‘culture’ in your club or team environment. Content will focus on how you might identify the key elements of existing culture, steps that can assist to evolve club or team culture, & important considerations when leading change.

Format: This module is in the format of a single 2 hour workshop which can be facilitated either via Zoom or in a face-to-face context. Pre & post learning tasks are included for the purposes or introduction & reflection.
