Timekeeper Officials Courses

The Timekeeper qualifications are available for anyone aged 16 or over who is interested in officiating at Track or cross country events.

Track & Field Officials Pathway

Level 1 Timekeeper 

Available for anyone 16 years or older who is interested in officiating at track or cross country events. The course will last around 3 hours and will cover the following topics:

• The appropriate equipment and clothing to bring to a meeting
• How to take appropriate times accurately and understand some of the reasons for inaccuracy
• Understand how to report times to chief timekeeper
• Other duties Timekeepers may be required to do
• Understand how a Timekeeper works as part of a team

Next Steps

• Gain a minimum of four competition experiences
• Ensure you have uploaded your licence photo to the myAthletics portal (head shot on a white background). We are currently experiencing technical difficulties resulting in <https://myathletics.englandathletics.org/portal/Members/Login> being down. Our IT team is currently working on identifying the cause of the issue.
• Complete an Access NI check
• Complete the self-taught Safeguarding module
• Complete the self-taught Health and Safety module module (FREE).
• Complete the Level 1 application form and send to officials@athleticsni.org
